Aquasonic Test Kits
For more than 25 years Aquasonic has been making test kits to determine a wide range of critical water conditions. Aquasonic test kits are easy to understand, with accurate colour charts and relevant information. Every kit is economically priced, doing 50 or more tests. Each kit has replacement reagents and if required they are available in bulk. Instructions and information are laminated to protect from wet hands yet available for instant access. The case will last for years, reagents being replaced as used.

pH Fresh
Probably the best fresh water pH test on the market with more tests (approx 150 per kit) and more accuracy due to the uniqueway the results are determined. Namely more test water is used, lessening the risk of contamination and the determination is made by viewing vertically through the test tube onto the colour chart. The colour chart also has the correct colours for the bromothymol blue indicator. pH 6.00 = Yellow and not 6.4 as some others have done. The kit contains samples of pH adjusters. Refill and spare test tubes are available.

MARINE pH
Many marine pH indicatorsare difficult to read. Some cover too broad a range and most do only a few tests. The indicator used in MARINE pH is unique. It is a mixed indicator with an ideal range 7.5 to 8.7. Determinations can be made even without a colour chart. Yellow is to low, purple to high and a shade of red is in the safe range. A relevant sample of kH-up. (Carbonate Hardness Generator Powder is included in the kit)

HIGH RANGE pH (TK740)
Ideal for Cichlids and fish preferring high pH values - Measures pH from 7.6 to 9.0 - Easy to use, immediate results - Reagents available seperately for replacement.

CALCIUM
Too much carbon in the water results in reduction of carbonate hardness levels and fluctuating pH. Normal seawater contains 350-450ppm calcium. Please refer to a goo reference for each freshwater species. The easy to use kit, tests in 25 or 50ppm steps and displays the colours for the start and end points for easy use.

CARBONATE HARDNESS
A Carbonate hardness test is a test of the carbonate and bicarbonate extent contained in a sample of water. It affects all aquaria, both salt and fresh. It is called many names, according to the jargon of an industry or country of origin of test kit. CARBONATE HARDNESS=ALKALINITY=kH (German)=ACID BINDING CAPACITY. The Carbonate hardness of water is an important measurement, because the level of Carbonate hardness is the basis for the value of the pH in a given sample of water. A strong Carbonate hardness reserve in water can mean a vary stable pH and the bonus of an alternative supply of carbon dioxide for plants and algae if supply runs short. This applies equally for marine or freshwater enviroments. This is an easy test to perform in 10-2ppm steps.

HARDNESS
The hardess of water can be just as critical to the well being of an aquarium as pH. In fact with many fish it can mean the difference between good health and poor health, or death. The HARDNESS test kit measures and uses by ppm (Parts Per Million), so it is easy to understand. It measures in steps of 10ppm which means more accuracy. The kit also has a colour chart (absent in most other kits) so you know what colour you should start off with and what the final result should be. An easy test to perform with 10 or 20ppm steps.

AMMONIA
Ammonia is extremely toxic to aquatic life, even in quantities as small as 0.5ppm, yet it is a very common substance. It is produced each time something organic, like fish waste or even dead fish, decomposes. Many municiple water supplies are using chloramine as a form of sanitation. Ammonia can result when inadequate water agers or anti-chlorine products are used to neutralise chloramine in tap water. The chloramine bond is broken, chloramine is released and neutralised, leaving toxic ammonia. Unlike many other ammonia test kits using Nestler's reagents, that only tests large amounts of ammonia (2ppm and up) and don't work in salt water or hard water, this AMMONIA TEST KIT uses the Indophenol method which will work in fresh and salt, testing down to 0.1ppm and up to 10ppm.

NITRITE (TK560)
This test is essential for new marine aquariums for determining when it is safe to release inhabitants. Levels of 5ppm or lower can affect marine fish and Nitrite problems can reoccur for some months until the aquarium has stabilised. This kit can also be applied to freshwater and is particularly useful for establishing when a new system can be stocked. This kit measuring from 1ppm - 20ppm.

NITRATE
Nitrate is toxic to fish at high levels and is extremely toxic to some invertebrates even at low levels, so specific tolerance levels need to be determined. Nitrate is also a mojor cause of algae in freshwater aquaria and a nitate test can determine when a water change could help. This test kit measures the nitate ion and not the nitrate nitrgen as some kits do, so it is easy to apply the recommendations of most books. The kit is accurate and all the reagents are available, so you only need replace the reagent you need. You can use 5, 10 or 20ppm steps to measure from 5ppm to 160ppm, with an easy to read colour change for the end result.

IRON (TK530)
This Iron test kit determines iron down to a level of 0.25ppm and up to 2ppm. Correct levels of iron are essential for the growth of aquatic plants, but too much could harm both fish and plants. Condensed, but essential information on successfully growing plants is contained in the kit. The results may be seen in a luxurious growth of aquatic plants.

PHOSPHATE
Phosphate is a very important parameter in fresh and salt water aquaria. High phosphate levels often guilty of causing ugly algae blooms in all aquarium types. In marine aquariums, phosphates can harm sensitive corals and cause the precipitation of calcium. Phosphoate levels should be monitored on a continuous basis. Testing for phospates will also enable you to determine the source of phosphates in your aquarium. For example, it is a good idea to test your source of fresh water and a sample of water made from synthetic salt. Measures from 0.1 to 3.0ppm levels.

COPPER
As a treatment for marine parasites, copper based medications are still the most effective and least harmful to marine fish. However specific levels of copper are important to obtain a successful treatment of a disease without harming the fish. This is a highly accurate test and has a very long shelf life. Levels as low as 0.05ppm may be determined in both fresh or saltwater.
