TW 1800 is a refrigerated, whole-cell Thalassiosira weissflogii microalgae concentrate supplied in the UK by Varicon Aqua. Highly concentrated and nutrient-rich, it provides balanced proteins, lipids, carotenoids, and essential fatty acids to support growth, survival, and early-stage development of shrimp, shellfish, and other marine larvae.
Ready-to-use, biosecure, and exceptionally clean, TW 1800 is suitable for larvae from day seven onward, as well as spat and broodstock conditioning. It offers a reliable algae replacement or supplementary feed for professional hatcheries, research facilities, and aquaculture operations.

TW 1800 delivers large, nutrient-dense diatom cells that support strong feeding responses and efficient ingestion by a wide range of larval and adult marine species. Its balanced composition of proteins, lipids, carotenoids, and essential fatty acids ensures consistent nutrition during key developmental stages, promoting improved growth, survival, and physiological condition.
The product is supplied as a viscous brown concentrate, ready for immediate use. For optimal performance, it can be added directly in front of centrifugal pumps or pre-diluted with system water at a 10:1 ratio when feeding into open tanks. Once defrosted, TW 1800 should be refrigerated and used within eight days to maintain nutrient quality and cell viability.
With a typical cell size of 10–15 microns, a concentration of approximately 0.64 billion cells per millilitre, and an algal biomass content of 120 g dry weight per litre, TW 1800 provides a highly concentrated, consistent, and reliable feed. It is ideal for full algae replacement, supplementary feeding, or backup feeding applications in routine and intensive hatchery and aquaculture systems.
