The High-Density Rotifer System (HDRS™) by Varicon Aqua represents an advanced solution for automated rotifer cultivation, suitable for both laboratory-scale research and commercial hatchery operations.
Engineered with industrial-grade components, the HDRS™ ensures reliable, continuous production while maintaining optimal culture conditions for rotifers. Designed with flexibility in mind, the system can be customised in terms of tank sizes, numbers, and control modules, allowing it to adapt to a wide variety of applications and facility requirements.
The HDRS™ features automated control of feeding, temperature, oxygen, pH, and metabolite levels, all monitored via high-precision sensors, dosing pumps, and flow meters. The culture system utilises a feedback mechanism to optimise rotifer density, achieving turnover rates of up to 40% per day with densities of 3,000 rotifers/mL. This supports a daily production of approximately 1.2 billion rotifers from a single 1 m³ culture tank. Harvested rotifers are transferred to a separate receiver tank, minimising handling and ensuring that the main culture remains undisturbed.
Remote management is a key feature of the HDRS™, offering seamless monitoring and control via an inbuilt data acquisition and Human-Machine Interface (HMI). The system can be accessed from laptops, desktops, tablets, or smartphones, providing flexibility and ease of operation from anywhere. Additionally, its robust design supports the use of multiple feed substrates, including concentrated algae pastes and formulated diets, to accommodate a range of feeding protocols.
With its highly adaptable design and Varicon Aqua’s extensive after-sales support, the HDRS™ is a dependable choice for efficient rotifer production. Whether you’re developing feed products, scaling hatchery operations, or conducting research, the HDRS™ delivers consistent performance and unparalleled flexibility.
